My parents' relationship has always interested me. I can't help but wonder so many things! I look back at the crushes I had back in eighth grade and I would NEVER marry ANY of them! However, my parents started dating in eighth grade and have been together ever since. They are both so different, but it works for them. I can still tell they are in love with each other today, 40 years later. Could they have known that they would still be together forever? I wanted to know, too. I loved learning this style of poetry and I'm so glad Mrs. Falk opened my eyes to it. Poetry Immitation Assingment
Innocent Beginnings
They were merely eighth graders when they started dating.
Who was more stricken? he, gazing at the stunning class president and star athlete with both the brains and beauty? or she, looking at the witty, future valedictorian and Harvard graduate filled with endless compassion and love?
Was he, the sheltered and reserved gentleman the one to make the first move? or was she, the carefree and wild soul the one to initiate what was to come?
When their eyes first met, did they immediately know that their undying love would last a lifetime, proudly raising two children as the perfect parents, never torn apart by distance? or did they just think of it as another part of growing up, experiencing those harmless and flirtatious glances, hoping to someday stumble across true love?
