I was really expecting it to be the other way around, such as cutbacks on women sports to benefit the men. However, because of the lack of federal funding, the men's sports are being cut back. However, this article made it clear that women's sports had been suffering in the audience numbers for quite some time now at different colleges (it was shocking to see that the Georgetown men's program resulted in about 12,000 people per game, but only about 10,000 for the ENTIRE season!).
\nI wish it was just easy to not make gender a major issue or concern in things like sports. Of course, this is much easier said than done. In this article, I do think it's nice that most colleges are making an effort to save women's programs BUT I do not think it's fair that the men's programs are being cut back. Money has become such an important issue that people are willing to do almost anything these days, even if it means losing some of the best men's teams around in the nation.","replyPages":[{"page":0,"digests":[],"more":0}]}],"more":false},"comments":[]},"http":{"code":200,"status":"OK"},"redirectUrl":null,"javascript":null,"notices":{"warning":[],"error":[],"info":[],"success":[]}}
