I think that pornhub deserves a lot of credit though to try to help women to stay healthy. Sure, in America at least, porn is one of those things that practically everyone watches at some point in their life either purely out of curiosity of for other various reasons and yet it is not talked about. It is a taboo in a sense even though its use it huge. I think that this whole idea to raise awareness is also good because its by pornhub. That fact alone draws a lot of attention to the issue, even if it isn't always for the right reasons.","replyPages":[{"page":0,"digests":[],"more":0}]},{"id":"53644736","dateCreated":"1335943341","smartDate":"May 2, 2012","userCreated":{"username":"tlau808","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/tlau808","imageUrl":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/i\/user_none_lg.jpg"},"monitored":false,"locked":false,"links":{"self":"https:\/\/iolaniwomenlit.wikispaces.com\/share\/view\/53644736"},"dateDigested":1532141078,"startDate":null,"sharedType":"discussion","title":"Taylor's Post","description":"I think that the boob bus is a great idea. It is a great way to not only raise awareness about breast cancer, but it also makes getting tested for breast cancer a lot more accessible. This bus can and probably already has saved a lot of lives. As for the issue of the bus being sponsored by pornhub, I don't have a problem with that. Even if their motive is to make money in the long run, they are still helping lots of women out with the boob bus.","replyPages":[{"page":0,"digests":[],"more":0}]},{"id":"53485836","dateCreated":"1335550654","smartDate":"Apr 27, 2012","userCreated":{"username":"katom","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/katom","imageUrl":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/i\/user_none_lg.jpg"},"monitored":false,"locked":false,"links":{"self":"https:\/\/iolaniwomenlit.wikispaces.com\/share\/view\/53485836"},"dateDigested":1532141079,"startDate":null,"sharedType":"discussion","title":"Katie's Response","description":"To be honest, after seeing the title "Save the Boob Bus", I was definitely startled and a little skeptical. However, after continuing to read the article, my initial disbelief transformed into inspiration. In today's world, pornography is not something that most people of "society" would approve of. It is stereotyped and socially constructed to be obscene and immoral. Nevertheless, I was inspired by the "Save the Boobs" Bus's purpose. With good intentions, it helped to raise awareness of one of the top killers of women nationwide. Stereotypically, I think that many would question these respectable acts by an enterprise that is not as respected. These acts do however, show that stereotypes are at many times misleading. After finally placing aside my dubious socially constructed views, I was able to see the good and only the good in what the Boob bus stood for.","replyPages":[{"page":0,"digests":[],"more":0}]},{"id":"53484670","dateCreated":"1335549912","smartDate":"Apr 27, 2012","userCreated":{"username":"jolike","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/jolike","imageUrl":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/i\/user_none_lg.jpg"},"monitored":false,"locked":false,"links":{"self":"https:\/\/iolaniwomenlit.wikispaces.com\/share\/view\/53484670"},"dateDigested":1532141079,"startDate":null,"sharedType":"discussion","title":"Jona's Response","description":"I think thought this article was very interesting and cool all at the very same time because raising awareness for them should be no problem because of the countless number of perverts who watch porno's will see that they are trying to promote this subject and will soon be contributes to the cause. Although it is quite apparent that the article insinuated reasons for questioning Olson's motives, given her past, her actions were truly admirable. Despite how people would normally write off publicity stunts like this, the unselfish morale behind this cause led it to success. There is no doubt in my mind that the actions of Olson will have a positive impact on women. I may not approve of her line of work but I can definitely appreciate her contribution to Breast Cancer awareness.","replyPages":[{"page":0,"digests":[],"more":0}]},{"id":"53454182","dateCreated":"1335503704","smartDate":"Apr 26, 2012","userCreated":{"username":"tiareyes","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/tiareyes","imageUrl":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/i\/user_none_lg.jpg"},"monitored":false,"locked":false,"links":{"self":"https:\/\/iolaniwomenlit.wikispaces.com\/share\/view\/53454182"},"dateDigested":1532141079,"startDate":null,"sharedType":"discussion","title":"Tiare's Response","description":"I think this is a super interesting way to raise breast cancer awareness. The fact that this is promoted by Pornhub and Bree Olsen will catch everyone's attention, whether it may be good or bad. I don't think it should matter who is raising the awareness. My Nana was a breast cancer survivor and I know many other women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer. It is a very serious issue and all women need to be educated about breast cancer. I think it was a smart idea to use a porn company to promote breast cancer awareness. It catches people's attention and it is for a great cause. I think that people should not be affected by who is hosting the event because they are not directly promoting porn. Also, porn stars are still people and they shouldn't be judged on their profession because people still buy their products. I think it is a great idea to offer free services in the effort to educate women about breast cancer, regardless of who is promoting it.","replyPages":[{"page":0,"digests":[],"more":0}]},{"id":"53430404","dateCreated":"1335468853","smartDate":"Apr 26, 2012","userCreated":{"username":"heyjordan","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/heyjordan","imageUrl":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/i\/user_none_lg.jpg"},"monitored":false,"locked":false,"links":{"self":"https:\/\/iolaniwomenlit.wikispaces.com\/share\/view\/53430404"},"dateDigested":1532141079,"startDate":null,"sharedType":"discussion","title":"Jordan's response","description":"I think that this article is very interesting, mainly because a pornstar is the one trying to advocate for breast awareness. It is odd, yet cleaver to see such a promiscuous and sexual woman doing good by advocating breast cancer. My life has been affected by breast cancer. Both of my grandmothers had the disease and passed away from it. I wasn't always really sure of what it was and I'm sure there are other people out there like me. I never had breast cancer but my aunty did and she found out in stage 2 of breast cancer. She saw the signs and found bumps in her breast but she didn't do anything about it because she didn't know the signs of breast cancer. She finally went to see a doctor after a bunch of us were concerned that it could be a tumor or something else. Now she is healthy and cancer free, but it's the fact that she didn't know the symptoms of breast cancer that bugs me. People who are diagnosed with breast cancer don't find out until the later stages because they don't know how to check themselves and don't know that if you have a bump in your breast you should see a doctor, it's not common knowledge. So that's why I think the "Save Our Boob Bus" is such a great idea to help women be aware of the signs and treatment for breast cancer.","replyPages":[{"page":0,"digests":[],"more":0}]},{"id":"53429460","dateCreated":"1335467711","smartDate":"Apr 26, 2012","userCreated":{"username":"Alicalho","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/Alicalho","imageUrl":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/i\/user_none_lg.jpg"},"monitored":false,"locked":false,"links":{"self":"https:\/\/iolaniwomenlit.wikispaces.com\/share\/view\/53429460"},"dateDigested":1532141079,"startDate":null,"sharedType":"discussion","title":"Ali's Response","description":"I think that this article was really interesting to read because of it's uniqueness. Throughout my lifetime I have been effected by breast cancer, not directly, but within my family. My grandmother died from breast cancer and my best friends Mom was diagnosed with it almost a year ago. It's really great to see that there are more efforts from people everywhere trying to spread awareness about this disease. I think it's really funny though that it was sponsored by a porn site, however, extremely relevant. Porn stars and porn sites are all about boobs which is exactly what it stated in the article. I think there idea was a really creative way to spread awareness about breast cancer and a good way to advertise breast examinations and how important they are.","replyPages":[{"page":0,"digests":[],"more":0}]}],"more":false},"comments":[]},"http":{"code":200,"status":"OK"},"redirectUrl":null,"javascript":null,"notices":{"warning":[],"error":[],"info":[],"success":[]}}
