It shows that this T.V. reality stars aren’t living their real lives. They are living the fake lives that others want them to live. I think reality T.V. shows are very entertaining, but it corrupts the minds of people watching them. For example slut and whore came from these shows, but now people use them in their everyday language. I thought it was interesting how the douche bag changed back to his real self. He realized the life he was living wasn’t real and he should go back to being a schoolteacher, Jason. I think there is a little positive of reality shows, but not much. It could help people realize how NOT to live their lives, but this wont work for many people. Majority of the people will want to be just like them. This article also relates back to show how much reality affects our lives. It shows that media control our lives and dictates how we act. I wouldn’t care if my children watched these shows because I did and still do, but as long as they don’t let it influence their lives and as long as they don’t want to be like them and live the same lifestyle.
Overall I think the article makes a good point and there are many stereotypes within the reality series on TV. Most of the people who go on these shows aren’t actually “real” and genuine about who they really are. I can assume that most of them just make up their own character just to be on TV. Also they are just crazy and have strong personalities, which always makes up a good reality show, because conflict is more interesting than being calm and friendly. Personally I am not influenced by reality TV I just think it’s stupid, but entertaining. However, I can see how someone can be easily influenced by these shows because they are all similar. Reality TV makes so ridiculous things seem acceptable in our society because if they can do it why can’t the rest of America do it too? Of course, Jersey Shore is a popular reality TV and they make it seem like all young adults just “Gym, Tan, and Laundry” and party all the time. Realistically to actually make a living that is impossible. However, I also think that there are appropriate reality shows such as The Biggest Loser. I think it would have an effect on overweight people in America because if these people on the show can do it they can too. It also is informative and raises the issue of obesity.
I found this article to be pretty interesting as I rarely ever watch any reality TV. However, the few times I did watch it, I noticed a clear pattern of your typical “sluts” and “gangstahs.” I think the producers of those shows specifically choose people who fit those categories to make the show more amusing to viewers. If you have a group of sluts pursuing the same man and living together, there is sure to be drama and humorous fights. The same goes for a group of men pursuing a single woman. Therefore, the producers gather the extremes of the “sluts” and “gangstahs” so that we can laugh as they struggle to outdo each other. When I watch TV, it is usually in search of mindless entertainment. When I sit on my couch and turn the TV off, that is my break from exerting my brain at school. At that time, I do not want to be analyzing or thinking about the deeper meaning of what they are saying. When others do the same while watching reality TV shows, they are likely to gain some misconceptions as their critically thinking mind is resting. Therefore, I would not want my kids watching reality TV if they are going to use my mindset while watching it. When I relax and watch TV, I watch harmless things like the Food Network or Wizards of Waverly Place. To watch such harmful things as Rock of Love or Tool Academy with the same mindset could lead to a very warped image of the world. While media literacy would help prevent such harm, having to analyze television takes the fun out of it. Therefore, my kids might as well not watch those shows as it seems completely pointless.
Although this article was presented to the audience in a different, more comedic fashion, I don’t think that we should be taking this subject lightly. After reading this article, I found that it was very true. I when we look at reality shows that are playing on M.T.V., you find that people are getting paid thousands of dollars to put themselves in a dangerous situation. Last night there was a new episode of “Jersey Shore.” A friend of my slept over at my house last night and she love the show. I personally do not watch reality television because I find that it is very demeaning to the people on it. I think it is a waste of their life to be doing these types of shows because the people are paid to get in to fights, to have drama throughout the house, and to drink until they pass out. All of these things are very unhealthy because you could cause serious damage to peoples’ physical and even more so to their mental health. This article talks about the stereotypes on TV. It is true that there are stereotypes on every television show. It doesn’t matter if they are the Asian wife that does everything for their husbands, or if it's the African American man cleaning up for the wealth white family. I am pretty sure that when people agree to these types of shows, they do not fully understand what they are getting themselves into. At first, it is “cool” to be on television and to become famous, but these people also are forced to act to the far extremes of their character. They are forced to have drama because who wants to watch a person going through everyday errands without all of the drinking, the lying, and the drama? I think that this business has become way out of hand and we need to stop feeding off other people’s pain.
real" and "normal." I believe it’s the reality shows such as Jersey Shores, The Housewives of __, and other reality shows with drama have been most detrimental to stereotypical images. I think that most of these stereotypes are not seen as positive traits of people or they are seen to make a certain type of person look silly in some way. Society is definitely influenced by these reality TV shows. We get our lingo from the reality TV shows such as Jersey Shores. People make assumptions that certain types of people act a certain way just after watching one person that may be the same race or something as them. I do not understand how just one person on a reality TV show can change the way people perceive others but that’s how it is. The media in general I believe has the biggest impact on stereotyping. I do not know if there is a positive aspect to watching these kinds of shows. I personally do not see the benefit. I just see it as another means of entertainment. Most of these reality TV shows are funny and ridiculous. I think that these shows are over emphasizing and exaggerating the typical stereotypes that we know.
After reading and watching the videos on this article, I found it to be so true. I was truly amazed how the media influences us and makes us think what is real and acceptable in society. I can’t believe how some people believe the bull that is shown on reality television shows and how the shows influence so many people. It kills me seeing how the audiences perceive the actors, the races, the sexes, and the people in society. In some cases, it seems as if they enjoy focusing on bad reputations and mocking the stereotypes and laughing or making fun of them. Even though some of us enjoy watching these shows, he have to remember that these people who are reality TV show stars are being paid thousands of dollars for every episode. What they say and do is not always true and we must take into account that they are getting paid for whatever they do and their goal is to entice the audience to watch and get as many people as they can to watch in the show. Everyone must remember that reality shows hurt some people and even make some people jealous and want to be just like them causing them to change and pick up mannerism and characteristics like the actors on TV.

Although I do not usually watch reality TV, I would say that the TV shows "The Real World" and "Jersey Shore" portray the same types of characters. The women will cry often, cheat on their boyfriends and attempt to physically fight each other while the men cheat on their girlfriends and are typically rude to everyone they meet. This may cause much of the TV audiences to think that, although their own gender does not act like the "crazy people" they see on TV, the other gender will act and judge the audience members in such a way.

I would never want my children to watch reality television because it would be a waste of their time. There is no positive aspect in watching these shows; there are so many more productive things to do in that half an hour. The theory of Media Literacy has been around for some time, and I would hope that television audiences have enough common sense and outside knowledge to know that what they are watching is definitely not "reality." But what it’s talking about it very true. Society watches reality TV so much that it becomes apart of them. We begin to mix up reality with what’s not reality. After reading this article, I realized how much reality TV has impacted the world around me. I look around and I see guys with haircuts just like the guys on TV. Or I hear people imitating the way people talk or yell out a catchy quote that was said. Although we may deny it, our lives are somewhat influenced by what we see on TV, reality TV shows or not. When we watch reality TV we get so hooked onto the show that we mix the TV show into our own lives. The one show that comes to my mind that I think influences many teens is “Jersey Shore.” I think Media Literacy is a good way for people to get a reality check. I'm a strong advocate against reality tv and I'm glad to know that there are even studies out there opposing these shows. I believe that reality tv is a complete brainwashing process. It's like adding fuel to the fire because it's confirming the stereotypical assumptions. It is humanity at its worse.

I don’t know of very many reality tv shows so I can’t really say which ones are the most detrimental but I’m sure that almost all reality tv brings to life the most horrible stereotypes. It not only insults women in the real world but men as well and their supposed characteristics. Society is heavily influenced by these types of shows because they expect both men and women to look and behave a certain way that’s actually not reality at all. Although I can see where these judgments are made, in the rare instances that these reality tv shows happen, all stereotypes are embraced.

I’m sure that our behavior in real life does get out of hand sometimes but reality tv just blows everything out of proportion. There is really no positive aspect at all to watching reality tv shows, completely nothing. The only way that they could possibly be beneficial is if they are used as an example of these terrible suppositions.
