Women in Literature

“If it means interfering in an ensconced, outdated system, to help just one woman, man or child…I’m willing to accept the consequences.” -Wonder Woman #170
Women in Literature will offer you the opportunity to explore the notions of sex and gender through different types of texts. From this point forward you may think of a text as anything that offers the possibility of interpretation. We think of our books as texts--textbooks--and they are, but we have the ability to look at the world through many other texts as well: the music on your ipod, the advertisements in newspapers, even the graffiti on buildings can serve as texts for us to examine, interpret, and place into contexts that help us to understand our world.

We will use this wiki as both an online space for information and as a way to collaborate and communicate. Please take some time to look around and figure out navigation; we'll be here together all semester!
Here's to a fun and successful year!
Aloha, Ms. Falk tfalk@iolani.org free periods 2, 5 and 7, 8 by appointment.

Other than your texts, you'll need
AN OPEN MIND
A SOLID WORK ETHIC
A WILLINGNESS TO SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS AND IDEAS
This is not a class in which you can remain silent and succeed. We need your thoughts and input. Here's the rub: You are not required to think like your classmates or think like me.

I ONLY ASK THAT YOU THINK.
