I used to have scorn for rhyming things; one, because I tried to make deep poems with rhyming schemes and failed miserably; and two, because I just could not see the point. Writing this blues poem made me realize how wrong I was. Rhyming added cadence and lilt to the voice, especially when read out loud. I actually managed to find words without a thesaurus that would match the image in my mind! I dug deeper into the text in order to really try to find how Shug felt towards Mr._. Reading in front of the class was at first a bit embarrassing, and I do wish I had sung. However, I’m glad I read it out loud, because I noticed how important the rhyming was,
