When I was a little girl, my mother and father set up a little table in our den. On that table were two stacks of paper, one white, one colored; an empty orange juice concentrate can filled with a rainbow of pens and a mini-Brother manual typewriter. From that day on my Barbies lay ignored; I began my journey as a writer.
This portfolio showcases some my more current pieces. Not all of them connect to gender, but they each have helped me grow into the woman I have become. Enjoy.
As a writer I am inspired by many things: the people around me, nature, my job--every little moment is a form of inspiration, the possible engendering of a writing piece. The following video served as a push toward a poem I am currently working on about the power of girls:
