Proposal Topic: The topic I have chosen is comparing the different journeys between the richest men and richest women in the United States. I chose this topic because I am interested in the different paths they had to take to get where they are today. In a society like today, I want to know if gender is related to the level of success someone is able to obtain. Also, I want to know if patterns have developed over the years because in the past men always seem to be on the top of society. However, today it may seem that the tables are turning and women are slowly making their way up. Essential Question: What is the difference in the paths people take in becoming the richest men and richest women in the United States? Process For my project I plan to do most of my research online about the richest men and the richest women, for example, Bill Gates and Oprah. I will mostly gather my research from interviews ands studying exactly what that person is involved in. By researching and learning about their stories and efforts hopefully I can make out a pattern and discover whether gender makes a difference. This may be challenging, but I also plan on contacting and interviewing an economist and ask him or her how people make so much money through a business, company, real estate, or stocks. For my final project, I am planning on using photography to make a storyline about a girl who works her way up to become the richest woman in America. I will be able to know how she does that after I have researched how the men and women become rich.
