Product Description The product I will make will be a magazine (or something close to a magazine). I want to see if I can find magazine paper to make it more realistic. However, if I can’t do that, I’ll model my product after a magazine as much as possible. I decided that making a magazine would be best because I believe that the media is what influences body image the most. In magazines there are usually pretty women or handsome men modeling a certain product or style of clothing. Readers take note of the models’ looks and body shape and usually try to style themselves after these models. Although my project isn’t based on the media, I think that the media is what exposes most people to the outside world and what is considered “good” and “bad.” Magazines are something that everyone is familiar with. The reader will flip through pages of images of the ideal body for specific cultures. Each picture will state how the ideal body should look for that type of man or woman. This product will educate the reader by showing them the ideal body type in every culture. They will be clearly shown what the majority of each culture finds beautiful. I also might add in the problems (like low self-esteem, eating disorders, etc) some people face while trying to obtain this body image so readers don’t feel as if they have to look a certain way. However, I’m not sure how to fit that into the magazine.
