When I was a young boy growing up, my mother would always tell me I would be the rock of our family. At that age, I had no idea of what that meant. Growing up and becoming the young man I am today, I realize how strong I've had to be for my Mom and Sister when faced with life's adversity's. Both pictures are from Kauai, the one to the right is Kalihiwai were my great-great-grandfather, Keahiahi, was the konohiki and my family is from. The one to the left is of Lumahai Beach and the reason I chose this picture is because there is an old hawaiian story which says that the rock at the top of the hill is the achilles heel of Kauai and if it were to fall, the island of Kauai would sink. To me this is symbolic and true of what my role is in my family and what I need to do to be a role model for future generations.
