this site is from EBSCOhost. there is a short summary on what cheerleading is. it also gives a little history on cheerleading. how the routines, uniforms, and competition changed as this sport progressed. in addition to history this site gives statistical information about female and male cheerleaders. unfortunately there is not much information about male cheerleaders.

this is another site i found on EBSCOhost. this particular article traces the history of cheerleading. it mentions how the sport went from men with megaphones, to a co-ed groups flipping, tumbling, and tossing. a very interesting piece of information that i found in this article was that "Cheerleading attracts more than three million elementary, high school, and college men and women in the United States".
